Rev. Dr. Ruth M. Mosley Scholarship

Named for the founder of the Unity Urban Ministerial School, this scholarship supports first-year students in the Ministerial Preparation Program who have successfully completed three (3) classes with UUMS.

Open to students with the intention of becoming a Unity Minister or a Licensed Unity Teacher (LUT).

Charles and Myrtle Fillmore Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Successful completion of all first-year requirements, UUMS Ministerial Preparation Program. See the UUMS Student Handbook.
  • Must have successfully completed three (3) classes with UUMS.
  • Must have a 3.0 or better grade point average at the time of application and will maintain it.
  • Must have applied or be on the Unity Ministerial Credentialing Path.

Application process

Applicants submit the application form with:

  • Letter of Application: A letter containing the applicant's biography, photo, and ministerial career goals.
  • Three (3) current letters of recommendation — from an individual with knowledge of the applicant's character, the applicant's Minister/Spiritual Leader, and a person of the applicant's choice.
  • A 350-word spiritual essay. First-time applicants write on “My Call to Ministry”; second-time applicants write on “My Personal Ministerial Vision.” Essays exceeding the word count will disqualify the application.

Award criteria: Academic performance, essay content, letter of application, activities, community service, and employment history are considered. Award is contingent upon acceptance into Unity’s Ministerial Credentialing path. Preference will be given to first-time applicants.
